High Pressure Area Requirements

When street main pressure exceeds 80 psi, an approved pressure reducing valve shall be installed in the water service pipe near its entrance to the building to reduce water pressure to 80 psi or lower. Where street water main pressures fluctuate significantly, the building water distribution system shall be so designed for the minimum pressure available.

View our territory map to determine if you’re in a low or high pressure area.

  • Low Pressure Water Zone (blue): Pressure will remain below 80 psi. No pressure reducing valve is required.
  • High Pressure Water Zone (purple): Pressure can exceed and remain above 80 psi. A pressure reducing valve is required. Some areas in the High Pressure Water Zone with higher elevations may not require a pressure reducing valve.
