ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM ENGINEER
Elk River Municipal Utilities (ERMU) is seeking a qualified and motivated Electrical Distribution System Engineer to join our team. This position supports the planning, design, and reliability of ERMU’s electric distribution system while working in both office and field environments. You’ll collaborate across departments and help maintain the integrity and performance of our substations, SCADA/OMS systems, AMI data, and GIS mapping.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop electric system planning studies (load growth, power quality, protection coordination).
- Support system operations through data analysis, outage tracking, and technical documentation.
- Assist with the design of system improvements, customer extensions, and project estimates.
- Coordinate with customers, developers, contractors, and internal teams.
- Operate and support SCADA, OMS, and AMI systems and contribute to outage restoration and maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
- Two (2) years of related engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within two years of hire.
- Valid Minnesota Driver’s License.
- Knowledge of electric distribution systems and GIS.
Preferred Qualifications:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with SEL, OSI SCADA, Itron MV90, ESRI, or AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with distributed energy resources or NERC compliance.
Pay Range: $50.56 – $65.84/hour

IT/OT Specialist
Elk River Municipal Utilities is looking for an IT/OT Specialist to support the technology systems that keep our community's utility services running. Working alongside our IT/OT Systems & Network Administrator, you'll handle day-to-day technical support, system maintenance, and OT platform support in a critical public utility environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for end users and IT/OT systems
- Support end users with installations, configurations, account management, and equipment setup
- Assist with network, server, and endpoint maintenance including patching and lifecycle tasks
- Support OT platforms including SCADA, AMI, and GIS/mapping systems
- Help maintain cybersecurity controls, asset inventory, and documentation
- Assist with IT/OT projects, system deployments, and process improvements
Position qualifications include:
- Education: Minimum of an associate’s degree (bachelor's preferred) in IT or related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience: 2+ years in IT support, helpdesk, or systems administration
- Technical: Windows, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and core networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- OT familiarity: Understanding of IT/OT distinctions and utility system environments
- License: Valid Minnesota driver's license
